The Police Officers Association of Connecticut (POACT) is pleased to announce its annual Lobby Day, scheduled for Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the Connecticut State Capitol. This crucial event will provide police officers from across the state with a platform to directly engage with their elected officials, discussing critical legislative issues that impact public safety and the well-being of law enforcement professionals.

The day will commence with an in-depth review of key legislative matters currently under consideration, offering officers a comprehensive understanding of the proposed changes and their potential ramifications. Following this, attendees will have the unique opportunity to meet with Connecticut Attorney General William Tong, fostering a dialogue on legal and policy matters relevant to policing in the state.

A central component of Lobby Day will be dedicated to facilitating meetings between officers and their respective state legislators. POACT will provide logistical support, assisting officers in scheduling appointments and ensuring productive conversations. This direct engagement will allow officers to share their firsthand experiences and insights, contributing to informed legislative decision-making.

Union Local Tax Issues

Federal law now requires that every local union file an annual information return—Form 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N—with the IRS.

If your local fails to file under this new requirement, your local will lose its tax-exempt status.
